BRUSSELS - Serbian Deputy Parliament Speaker Elvira Kovac urged European Parliament members on Tuesday to open new clusters in Serbia's EU accession talks to give the country impetus in the process.
Kovac and a delegation of 20 Serbian MPs who are in their first terms as members of the National Assembly are in Brussels for a two-day study visit to the European Parliament.
They had an opportunity to speak with EP Vice President Michal Simecka, MEP Matjaz Nemec (Socialists and Democrats) and MEP Alessadra Moretti (Socialists and Democrats), chair of the EP Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Committee.
Kovac said EU membership was Serbia's strategic commitment.
She thanked the EP for facilitating an inter-party dialogue in Serbia, adding that the pluralism in Serbia's present parliament was a successful result of that dialogue.
Noting that Serbia had implemented constitutional reforms, Kovac announced amendments to information laws.
Serbian MPs and MEPs also discussed Serbia's EU integration and challenges on that path, the Serbian parliament said in a statement.
