IDVOR - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic and US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill on Friday visited the Mihajlo Pupin Memorial Complex in Idvor, northeastern Serbia.

The complex is comprised of Pupin's birth house, former primary school and his endowment - the People's Home.

This year marks the 170th anniversary of his birth.

Pupin, who was born in Idvor in 1854 and died in New York in 1935, was a famous Serbian-American scientist and inventor.

Brnabic and Hill were accompanied by Pupin Initiative co-founder and Executive Director Vuk Velebit, who organised the visit.

Brnabic said the objective was to rebuild the complex to transform it into a new innovation and scientific centre where young people could work, too, rather than just be visitors.

She said the Serbian Ministry of Culture had invested over 20 mln dinars in the past three years to rebuild the complex but that a comprehensive reconstruction and a concept catering primarily to young people were definitely needed.
