BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic hosted a lunch for Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik on Friday to thank them for their assistance in the fight against the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution on Srebrenica.

"With Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, I discussed the gravity of the moment and expressed gratitude to them for dealing with the issue of the imposed Srebrenica resolution as the key issue for the survival of the Serbs," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbjieav Instagram account.

Commenting on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, Vucic said various attempts to take away the province from Serbia both spiritually and physically were underway on a daily basis.

He noted that Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija were targeted by brutal persecution that was not easy to stop.

"Through political means, we will oppose their (Pristina's) unlawful and all other acts of violence and do everything we can for our people in Kosovo-Metohija and, of course, we will never agree to an independent Kosovo. In these uneasy times, the only positive thing is that Serbia and Srpska are developing well economically and that that is going better than expected considering the situation in the world," Vucic noted.
