NOVI SAD - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Monday Serbia would fight to connect regional markets, as well as to protect its interests.
"Instead of talking about how Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina should build a powerful economic alliance with trade worth 3 bln euros, we are forced to deal with topics from the past, but we will not allow humiliations of our people and our state, and we will oppose that," Momirovic said at a One Region, One Market conference in Novi Sad.
The challenges in Europe and worldwide are big and if we do not focus on the interest of our peoples to build a regional economy, we will all be in big trouble, Momoirovic said.
"Serbia has invested quite a lot to bring the peoples of the Balkans closer, to connect our economies so that we can together build a better future for all," a statement released by the Ministry of Internal and External Trade quoted Momirovic as saying.
The Serbian government strongly supports the private sector and believes strongly in free movement of people and goods because, simply, there is no development and no future without that, he said.
