BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Milos Vucevic on Wednesday refuted a Reuters report that Serbia has been selling arms to Ukraine or intends to do so, and noted that "Serbia has not been and will not be selling arms to the Ukrainian or the Russian side or countries in the region of the conflict."
"Someone evidently has the objective of destabilising our country and dragging it into a conflict we do not want to be involved in. We are adhering to our established policy in a consistent manner," Vucevic told Tanjug.
He said claims that Serbia was selling arms to Ukraine were a much-repeated lie.
"We have denied those untruths more than ten times and, here you go, we will do it again. Serbia has not been and will not be selling arms to the Ukrainian or the Russian side or countries in the region of the conflict," Vucevic said.
Of course, our country is selling weapons to third parties that are far from the conflict and have nothing to do with it, Vucevic said.
"There is always a possibility of some weapons ending up in a conflict territory in some mysterious way, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Serbia. That is a question for countries that do not respect international norms, contract clauses and the usual business practices," he said.
"I repeat, Serbia has not sent arms to Ukraine, and everything that has been published on that topic is speculation that is untrue," Vucevic said.
