Vucic welcomes von der Leyen in Belgrade

BELGRADE - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Belgrade on Tuesday.

At the Nikola Tesla Airport, she was welcomed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

"Welcome, Ursula von der Leyen. A full day of discussions is ahead of us, during which I will express all kinds of gratitude to the EU for the help and support it has provided to us, in the hope Serbia will have the strength to meet its accession commitments and become a part of the European family of nations," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

Vucic will host von der Leyen at the Palace of Serbia, where they will first have a tete-a-tete discussion and then also a meeting with members of the two delegations.

Von der Leyen arrived in Belgrade from Podgorica, where she met with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic earlier in the day.

As part of a four-day tour of the region, she previously visited Skopje and Pristina.
