BRUSSELS - Speaking to reporters after Wednesday's bilateral meetings with EU foreign policy and security chief Josep Borrell and Brussels's special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he was certain an EU statement would say "who wanted no discussions in Brussels today."

Vucic said Pristina was insisting on a de iure recognition of the so-called Kosovo and that everything came down to that.

He said establishing a Community of Serb Municipalities was the most important issue but that there had been no progress or a response from the other party as he had not even met with Pristina's PM Albin Kurti.

Asked what EU officials told him after their meetings with Kurti, Vucic responded:

"They say 'Kurti wants you to recognise Kosovo.'"

He added that, on the other hand, he had held good discussions with EU officials throughout the day and that they "understand very well what happened today."

"None of them are neither naive nor stupid, but it is another matter what the positions of some EU member states are and what kind of statements they must make. But I believe that, despite everything, they will have to say there was no willingness by one of the parties for discussions with the other party," Vucic noted.

Asked who was able to guarantee to Kosovo-Metohija Serbs that there would be no further unilateral moves by Pristina, Vucic responded that no one could guarantee that.

"The only thing we can do is to fight, but no one can guarantee there will be no unilateral moves. There have always been, and they (the EU) know that, they see everything," Vucic said.
